MYTH: American Pit Bull Terriers lock their jaws.
Dr. Brisbin: "The few studies which have been conducted of the structure of the skulls, mandibles and teeth of pit bulls show that, in proportion to their size, their jaw structure and thus its inferred functional morphology, is no different than that of any breed of dog.
There is absolutely no evidence for the existence of any kind of "locking mechanism" unique to the structure of the jaw and/or teeth of the American Pit Bull Terrier.

Can't watch.
I'm with you, Jan.
I saw one during the election campaign, that was enough for me.
I saw the video unexpectedly on CNN this week, otherwise I wouldn't be able to watch either. What surprised me - after all the uproar over this issue during the 2008 campaign - is how many animal lovers did not know about it. I'm glad a Hollywood star got involved to help spread the word. Seems like usually those star types go to the dark side so I'm happy to see one step up for a sensible position.
