Food Porn
Thanks to reader Pai and to the Library of Congress, I offer the following chapter on feeding from the book Dogs as Home Companions by A.F. Hochwalt, published in 1922. I love this kind of thing, prolly abnormally so. Expect to see more excerpts from old dog books in future. Thank you Pai!

Table scraps back then were pretty much all homecooked whole vegetables and meat and grain. Not a lot of pre-processed stuff. Hopefully human beings realize that sort of food is best for US, as well as our dogs. On average it seems a lot of us feed our dogs better than we feed ourselves.
